Kamen Rider Black on Veoh!

You may have noticed that the streaming Doraemon movies were hosted on Veoh, the wondrous version of YouTube. What makes Veoh better? Here are a few factoids:

  1. Full-resolution videos. YouTube videos are half the resolution.
  2. No length restrictions. Which means that I can upload an episode in its entirety.
  3. No size requirements. I don’t have to recompress the videos, which equates to better quality.
  4. You can download the videos. This one’s a biggie — you can get Veoh Player (available for Win/Mac) to download the exact same videos that I uploaded. This saves us bandwidth!
  5. Prettier player. Alright, this one’s not that important…but it’s a fact!

Commenting and whatnot still exist on Veoh, not to mention I can get my own special URI for my releases. Without furtherado, I introduce to you — Kamen Rider Black and Doraemon on Veoh!

Also, check out the new “Watch Now!” section, added to the navigation menu at the top!
Have fun :)

    Are there other sites like this?

  3. 3 Pal

    CartoonFan, check the links under “Fansub Groups” to the right :P

    OK, but how to download videos WITHOUT downloading their player? the :Download video” button leads me to their player istaller…

  5. 5 Pal

    AtoMan: You can’t :P You need to download the player if you want to download the episodes. Just download the episodes and close the program or Veoh will periodically download videos on its own :P

  6. 6 CartoonFan

    Actually, I was referring to other streaming video sites…

    @Pal: :@

    Butseems not exactly - i look @ my Videos page, and some videos have:

    Available Formats
    * Windows Media 9(Generating)
    * iPod

    “iPod” is clickable, and i can download MP4 file, so…

    Hmm, I’ll check it AtoMan. Maybe they changed how they do things, since that’s what they used to do.

    Ok, I just tested…it works, downloaded an AVI. HOWEVER, it changed the file name. Not so cool. I’ll see what I can do about that… CRCs are still the same, so that’s good.

  12. 12 AtoMan

    So you managed to get the AVI file without a player?

    I got the AVI via Veoh Player. Only way to download it :\

    Pal, can you please post a list of CRC32 sums or md5 hashes for the episode files so that we can check against the files download from veoh?

    Also, is there a BT tracker for the episodes? Just in case the file from veoh is some how corrupted… that way at least we can use the torrent to fix the file.

    Will do, thanks for the heads up :) The BT links are in the Downloads section, I’ll make the link a little more visible.

  16. 16 Pal

    Ok Caspar, added CRC Checksums section to the top right there :P

    Appreciate your work!

    I’ll refuse to use the player, as 1) seems it downloads lots of data on its own lately; 2) it’s incompatible with my os X.X

    And i got DMCA complaint. They react much faster than Youtube X.X

    I’m testing blip.tv - they allow to upload files via FTP, when you log off from FTP server the file is automatically available for download in original form, and after a 15-20 minutes you can watch the FLV version.

    It does indeed download random stuff. I set it to comply use 1% of my hard drive space, and I turn it off whenever I’m not uploading. Annoying, but it works. I haven’t received any complaints yet, I guess I’m lucky. Better job in streaming than YouTube in my opinion, so. As long as it works :)
    Will check out blip.tv, sounds interesting!

    I admit, Veoh have better quality, one can upload longer vid, and direct uploading from HTTP is good idea… But still, WinME/9x/Linux users aren’t treated good X.X About DMCA, it all depends on what stuff you upload, so i can understand they removed full Pokemon episodes - but it’s still better than what YouTube did with my old account - i had OPENINGS only, every one got removed and account was suspended.

    Too bad none of “FLV-downloading” sites support Veoh yet, but i hope it’s only a matter of time ;-)
